One person was killed and another injured in a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago on Monday morning, according to Illinois State Police. The crash happened around 8:16 a.m. in the northbound express lanes near 55th Street and involved two vehicles.
Authorities shut down the inbound express lanes at 71st Street while police investigated the collision. One person died at the scene, while another was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The northbound express lanes were reopened by about 1 p.m. as the investigation and roadway response concluded.
