Two people were injured after two semi-trucks collided on US-41 in North Chicago early Thursday morning. The crash happened near Martin Luther King Drive at around 2 a.m., causing significant damage to the vehicles.
According to the North Chicago Battalion Chief, one of the truck drivers became trapped inside the heavily damaged vehicle and had to be extricated. The driver was stabilized after the rescue. The other driver suffered minor injuries and was treated.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Road closures were expected between Amhurst Parkway and Martin Luther King Drive, with drivers warned of delays during the morning commute.
