Car Crash News | Spring Grove, Illinois
Eight people were injured Sunday afternoon in a serious crash involving a Spring Grove police officer near the Wisconsin state line.
According to Spring Grove police, the crash happened around 2:05 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 12 and Spring Grove Road. The officer was responding to assist another police department when the collision occurred.
Footage from the scene showed at least three SUVs involved in the crash, with one vehicle reportedly losing its engine. One of the eight injured people was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
A witness said the police officer appeared to be pinned inside the patrol vehicle immediately after the crash and was later taken to a stretcher as the helicopter arrived.
Authorities had not released the conditions of those injured as of early Monday. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Major Crash Unit was investigating the collision.
