Phillips will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) seminar Sharpening Your Legal Edge: Essential Skills for Young Lawyers. This dynamic program is designed to equip emerging attorneys with the skills, strategies, and practical knowledge needed to build a strong foundation in trial advocacy and litigation.
Stephen D. Phillips will speak on the topic of Preparing for Depositions, offering practical, experience-based insights into one of the most critical aspects of pre-trial preparation. Known for his mentorship and dedication to professional development, Steve will share proven techniques and tips young attorneys can apply in real-world practice.
A respected leader in the legal community, Stephen D. Phillips is a past President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has served multiple consecutive terms on the ITLA Executive Committee. He currently co-chairs the Publications Committee and has also been elected Governor of the Illinois State Bar Association, serving three terms in the State Bar Assembly. He is also a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and International Society of Barristers.
In addition to Stephen D. Phillips’ participation, Stephen J. Phillips, partner at Phillips Law Offices, will serve as a moderator for the event. A strong advocate for education and mentorship, Stephen J. Phillips holds several leadership positions within ITLA—he is the Vice-Chair of the Seminar & Member Education Committee, Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division, and serves on the ITLA Board of Managers alongside Terrence M. Quinn.
