2 Chicago Officers Hurt in Bridgeport Crash

Two Chicago police officers suffered minor injuries following a crash involving a squad car and a pickup truck in the Bridgeport neighborhood early Thursday morning. According to the Chicago Police Department, the collision occurred around 5:25 a.m. at the intersection of 31st Street and Halsted Street on the city’s Southwest Side.

Authorities said the officers were traveling northbound with their emergency lights activated when their squad vehicle collided with an eastbound pickup truck. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported both officers to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 28-year-old man, was also injured in the crash and was taken to Stroger Hospital. Officials indicated that his injuries were not considered serious and that he was expected to recover.

Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the collision. As of Thursday morning, police had not announced whether any citations or criminal charges would be issued in connection with the incident.
