CHICAGO, IL — Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) has announced that Michael J. Phillips has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 William J. Harte Amicus Volunteer Award.
The award recognizes attorneys for their dedicated volunteer service and professional contributions on behalf of the ITLA Amicus Curiae Committee in preparing legal briefs before the Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Appellate Court over the past year.
As part of his work with ITLA, Phillips authored an amicus curiae brief submitted to the Illinois Supreme Court in connection with a significant case before the Court. An amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” brief allows organizations and legal advocates to provide courts with additional legal analysis, public policy considerations, and perspectives that may assist in
resolving important legal issues impacting the public and the legal system.
Phillips’ participation reflects his commitment to protecting the rights of injured individuals and contributing to the development of Illinois law through appellate advocacy.
