One person was arrested after an Illinois State Police pursuit on Interstate 57 ended in a crash in Dixmoor on Tuesday afternoon. According to Illinois State Police, troopers in Matteson spotted a vehicle around 12:30 p.m. that was wanted in connection with an ongoing shooting investigation. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, prompting a brief pursuit.
The chase came to an end near 147th Street and Cooper Avenue in Dixmoor after the fleeing vehicle crashed. Authorities said the driver attempted to escape on foot but was quickly taken into custody. Two minors who were inside the vehicle were also taken into custody. Officials reported that neither child appeared to suffer any injuries during the incident.
Illinois State Police said the shooting investigation remains active. Authorities have not released the identity of the individual arrested, and no information regarding possible charges has been announced.
