A 35-year-old woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive on Chicago’s South Side Sunday night, according to Chicago police. The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. in the 4000-block of DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Oakwood Boulevard, where a black SUV was traveling the wrong way in a northbound lane. The SUV collided head-on with a white sedan, triggering a chain-reaction crash that also involved a black coupe.
The driver of the SUV was not injured and was taken into custody. The woman driving the white sedan was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where she later died. No other injuries were reported. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Several CTA buses were rerouted while lanes remained blocked until about 8:30 a.m., causing significant delays during the Monday morning commute.
