Trucking accidents are different than car accidents because the trucking industry is supposed to be monitored by the federal government. And one of the things that the federal government puts forth is regulations that require drivers to avoid fatigue. Truck accidents oftentimes are much more significant because of the mass and force of the truck than car accidents. It’s very important that people keep in mind that a truck, because of its size, its weight, its speed, its mass, can cause tremendous damages at slower speeds, whereas cars cannot because the sheer energy is going to stop the car before it causes the degree of damage that a truck will. When it comes to trucking accidents, I think it’s very important that people understand that most of the cases we’ve seen have been wrongful death cases. And most of those wrongful death cases we’ve seen have been the result of truck drivers and equipment not complying with federal regulation. I’ve been handling truck accident cases for over 30 years. Our firm has been in existence for over 70 years. At Phillips Law Offices, we pride ourselves in the reputation we have in the community that there are a fair number of attorneys who we’ve had cases against who refer their family and friends to us to represent them in trucking accident cases. I think that speaks volumes when your opponent, who has had cases against hundreds or maybe thousands of lawyers over the course of their careers, wants you to represent their family and friends in trucking accident cases.
