Medical malpractice is a fancy phrase that just means medical negligence. It’s the failure to conduct oneself as a careful, prudent physician or nurse would do in a similar circumstance. Any medical professional who is licensed can be held liable for medical negligence or malpractice. What the standard of care is, what’s required of people engaged in the medical profession or nursing profession says that they have to conduct themselves as a reasonably careful physician or specialist would under similar circumstances. Medical malpractice can severely affect people’s lives permanently. When one goes to the hospital or goes to a physician and pays that hospital or pays that physician for their care, they expect their professional to use care, to research and use all the skill and knowledge they have to address the issue that brought them to the health care provider. When the health care provider is negligent or doesn’t care, the results can be catastrophic. People can die, people can end up with permanent injuries. We have a fair number of attorneys who we’ve had cases against refer their friends and family members to us. I think it speaks volumes that our opposing counsel who have cases against hundreds of lawyers across the state of Illinois will send their family members and their clients who are injured as a result of medical negligence to us to represent them.
