Four Phillips Law Offices Attorneys Re-Elected to ITLA Leadership Positions

Chicago, Illinois – Phillips Law Offices is proud to announce that four of its attorneys have been re-elected to leadership positions within the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA), further demonstrating the firm’s longstanding commitment to advancing the civil justice system and supporting the legal profession throughout Illinois.

Managing Partner Stephen (“Steve”) D. Phillips has been re-appointed to the ITLA Executive Committee. The Executive Committee governs the association by guiding its vision and managing its day-to-day operations between larger board meetings. A respected leader within the association for decades, Steve previously served as President of ITLA during the 2013-2014 term and has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career. He is currently on the Board of Managers and serves as Co-Chair of the Publications Committee, where he is responsible for editing and reviewing articles for Trial Journal, ITLA’s publication dedicated to advancing the practice of plaintiff’s personal injury law and keeping attorneys informed on important legal developments. Steve has been re-elected to the Board of Managers every year for over two decades. Less than 5% of ITLA members are elected to serve on the Board of Managers.

Partner Terrence (“Terry”) M. Quinn has also been re-elected to the ITLA Board of Managers, a position he has held for over a decade. Terry has been re-elected to this position every single year since 2018, a testament to his reputation amongst his peers. Terry has also been an invited speaker at multiple ITLA continuing legal education seminars within the past 18 months, lecturing ITLA membership on common ethical issues in personal injury law. Terry takes great pride in teaching the next generation of young trial lawyers.

Partner Stephen J. Phillips was also re-elected to the ITLA Board of Managers, where he will begin his fourth consecutive year serving on the Board. Prior to his election to the Board of Managers, Stephen served on the ITLA Board of Advocates for one year. In addition to his role on the Board of Managers, Stephen is also one of three Chairs of the Seminar & Member Education Committee, where he helps develop ITLA’s continuing legal education (CLE) programs and organize speakers for educational seminars throughout the year.

Attorney Michael J. Phillips has been re-elected to the ITLA Board of Advocates, a leadership group dedicated to promoting the organization’s mission of protecting the civil justice system, preserving individual rights, and advocating for public safety. Michael’s continued service reflects his dedication to advancing the interests of injured individuals and their families. Michael was also recently honored with ITLA’s respected William J. Harte Amicus Volunteer Award, recognizing his outstanding volunteer service and contributions to the organization’s Amicus Curiae Committee through the preparation of legal briefs before the Illinois Supreme and Appellate Courts. As a recipient of the Harte award, Michael was tasked with authoring an Amicus Brief that was submitted to the Illinois Supreme Court. This distinction highlights Michael’s commitment not only to his clients but also to advancing important legal issues that impact all citizens across Illinois.

The Phillips family’s involvement with ITLA spans three generations. Steve Phillips’ father, the late John G. Phillips, served as President of ITLA from 1964 to 1965, establishing a legacy of leadership and advocacy that continues today through Steve, Stephen, and Michael. Their combined service reflects more than seven decades of dedication to protecting the rights of injured people and strengthening the civil justice system in Illinois.

“ITLA plays a critical role in protecting access to justice and promoting excellence within the legal profession,” said Stephen D. Phillips. “We are honored to continue serving in these leadership positions and helping advance the organization’s mission on behalf of injured individuals and their families.”

The re-election of four Phillips Law Offices attorneys to leadership positions within ITLA underscores the firm’s deep commitment to professional leadership, legal education, and advocacy for those harmed by the negligence of others. Through their continued service, Steve Phillips, Terry Quinn, Stephen Phillips, and Michael Phillips remain actively involved in shaping the future of plaintiff’s personal injury law throughout Illinois.
