Phillips Law Offices is proud to announce that Managing Partner Stephen D. Phillips will serve as a featured speaker at the upcoming Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) Annual Damages Seminar on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM CT.
A Past President of ITLA and current Executive Committee Member, Stephen will present:
“Damages: The Beginning, The Discovery Phase & The Trial.”
His presentation will focus on strategically developing damages from the earliest stages of a case through discovery and ultimately to trial. Drawing on decades of courtroom experience, Stephen will address how thoughtful damages development from day one can significantly impact case value and trial outcomes.
“Damages—showing how someone’s injuries have impacted them—are mistakenly sometimes thought of as secondary to proving liability or negligence, “said Stephen D. Phillips. “From the outset of your case you need to be thinking about the harms your client has suffered. I look forward to giving this presentation and showing the importance of framing a case with damages at the forefront so that come trial, you have a powerful message to deliver to a jury.”
The ITLA Annual Damages Seminar brings together the very best trial lawyers from across the state to discuss best practices, litigation strategy, and evolving approaches to proving damages. Phillips Law Offices is honored to play a meaningful role in a program that promotes professional development and strengthens outcomes for injured people.
In addition to Stephen D. Phillips’ participation, Stephen J. Phillips, partner at Phillips Law Offices, will serve as a moderator for the event. A strong advocate for professional education and mentorship, Stephen J. currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Seminar & Member Education Committee, Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division, and is a member of the ITLA Board of Managers.
“Introducing my father to speak at ITLA seminars is a special experience that I do not take for granted,” said Stephen J. Phillips. “ITLA really is a tight-knit, impactful community of exceptional trial lawyers, and I am especially proud of our firm’s longstanding dedication to its mission.”
Further reflecting the Phillips Law Offices’ active involvement within ITLA, partner Terrence M. Quinn contributes at the leadership level through his service on the Board of Managers alongside Stephen D. and Stephen J., while attorney Michael J. Phillips serves on the ITLA Board of Advocates, supporting the organization’s mission and future growth. Together, their roles underscore the firm’s sustained commitment to strengthening the Illinois plaintiff trial bar.
Phillips Law Offices is committed not only to securing results for their clients in the courtroom, but also to advancing the growth and education of the trial bar.
