One person lost their life following a collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer on Route 4 near Interstate 70 in Madison County on Monday morning. According to Illinois State Police, troopers from Troop 8 responded to the crash scene just south of I-70 near Marine at approximately 9:10 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that the fatal accident involved a motorcycle and a truck-tractor semi-trailer. Authorities confirmed that one individual was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the crash. Emergency responders temporarily shut down both directions of Route 4 while they conducted their investigation and cleared the roadway. The highway has since reopened to traffic. Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
