Urgent Care Centers in Chicago

What do you do when the Doctor’s office is closed, but you don’t want to go to the hospital for medical treatment? Urgent Care Centers fill in the space between the emergency room and the doctor’s office.  Get acquainted with some urgent care centers around Chicago, IL and consider this option when you need help.  Here are some for you to look into.

Med-Spring Urgent Care

The Med-Spring organization actually has 7 locations at various points around Chicago, so there’s sure to be one near you.  They are equipped to treat many different conditions that aren’t life threatening, but require care.  Med-Spring can treat illness and injuries, give vaccinations, and do physicals.  They will be able to give stitches to your wound, and can x-ray and treat broken bones.  They are open 9:00am – 9:00pm, making it convenient to get the treatment you need.

Physicians Immediate Care

Another asset to Chicago, Physicians Immediate Care offers several locations in Chicago.  If you go to their website, you can book an appointment.  Times are approximate, but it helps for you to know when you can be seen.  They can do pediatric care, woman’s health care, injuries, lab work, and treat practically all injuries and ailments.  They pride themselves on delivering “Remarkable Care” whether you have insurance, or not. They are open 8:00am – 8:00pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00am – 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday.

Chicago Express Doctors

What do you do at 2:00am when the pain won’t stop and you can’t get out of bed?  Call Chicago Express Doctors and have a doctor come to your house in less than an hour!  What a great business model, and so much less expensive than an ambulance ride to the emergency room.  This service is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so you can access it any time.  Everything old is new again.  House Calls!

Minute Clinic (Brought to you by CVS)

It’s as close by as your local CVS.  The staff on duty are nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants.  No appointments necessary.  They won’t have the same range to treat more critical cases, but with walk ins, they are great for minor injuries and illnesses, vaccinations, physicals, strep throat, and skin conditions… that kind of stuff.  DO NOT go to Minute Clinic if you have chest pain, shortness of breath, suspected poisoning, or high temperatures.  Go immediately to the nearest hospital emergency room if any of those descriptions fit your symptoms.

It’s all About Options

Today, when it comes to medical treatment, options are a good thing.  We all lead such hectic lives that we need to have a way to see a doctor that is quick, efficient, and practical.  Urgent care centers can treat most symptoms that aren’t life threatening.  They can fill your prescriptions and have you on your way.  Most will accept all types of insurance.  The copay may be higher in an urgent care center, but it will almost always be more affordable than a trip to the emergency room.  Next time you’re not feeling so hot, head to the nearest Urgent Care Center.
