A fatal motorcycle crash near O’Hare International Airport claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman Sunday afternoon after she reportedly lost control of her motorcycle and struck a guardrail on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 4:19 p.m. in the 12300 block of West Irving Park Road. Authorities said the woman was riding westbound when she lost control of the motorcycle for reasons that remain under investigation. The motorcycle then collided with a guardrail, causing severe injuries.
Emergency responders transported the rider to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials had not released her identity as of Sunday evening pending notification of family members.
The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
