A person died after a sedan crashed into a light pole near a CTA bus stop in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to Chicago police. The crash happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of West 95th Street near South Vanderpoel Avenue. Officers arriving at the scene found a black sedan that had struck the light pole, with a male driver unresponsive inside the vehicle.
Chicago Fire Department crews treated the man at the scene before he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released. Police have not yet determined what caused the crash, and the circumstances remain under investigation by the Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit.
