Crash on Chicago’s NW Side Leaves Man, 62, Dead; 1 Other Hurt

A crash on Chicago’s Northwest Side Friday night left a 62-year-old man dead and another person seriously injured, according to police. The collision happened around 8:43 p.m. in the 1700 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park.

According to the Chicago Police Department, a silver SUV was traveling northwest on Milwaukee Avenue at a high rate of speed when its driver lost control and struck a black sedan heading southeast. The sedan was being driven by the 62-year-old man.

The SUV driver suffered injuries of unknown severity and was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition. The 62-year-old sedan driver sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the same hospital, where he later died. Authorities have not released his identity.

Police issued a citation to the SUV driver. The CPD Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
