Multiple people were injured after a three-vehicle crash caused significant traffic disruptions on Interstate 270 in Madison County on Tuesday morning.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened around 7:31 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-270 near Illinois Route 3 in the Granite City area. Troopers closed the westbound lanes for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigated the scene.
Westbound traffic was diverted onto Illinois Route 3 during the closure. Two westbound lanes have since reopened, allowing traffic to resume through the area.
The crash remains under investigation, and Illinois State Police said no additional information is currently available.
