A woman is facing DUI and other charges after a rollover crash on Interstate 57 in Harvey that killed a 6-month-old baby and injured four toddlers over Labor Day Weekend.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened around 5:46 p.m. Sunday on northbound I-57, just north of 147th Street in Harvey. Six-month-old Dakari Lomax of Chicago died as a result of the crash, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Latasha M. Hope of Hazel Crest. She was driving a red Ford SUV carrying a female passenger, four toddlers and baby Dakari when the vehicle rolled over.
Authorities said none of the children were secured in car seats or wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Hope has been charged with reckless homicide, aggravated driving under the influence and child endangerment resulting in death.
