A bicyclist and a child riding in a bike trailer were injured after a pickup truck crashed into them Tuesday evening in suburban Batavia, authorities said. According to Batavia police, the crash happened around 5 p.m. near the intersection of 1st Street and South Water Street. A preliminary investigation found that a black pickup truck collided with the bicycle and trailer, which became lodged near or underneath the front of the truck. First responders removed the child from the trailer and took them to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bicyclist also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police had not released additional details late Tuesday, and the investigation remained ongoing.
